I've seen clearer versions of this video on You Tube and you can see Mr. Nobel Laureate angling the handgun in his right hand slowly upward toward the officers. About the time the muzzle was pointed at the officer's feet, the cop started shooting. If I was in the situation, I can guarantee you I would have done exactly the same thing. I was also happy to see the officer employ the 'shoot the motherfucker as many times as you can' approach to stopping the threat. Point weapon at officers, receive lead. It's that simple.
