Several Dead in Road Accident
The only text that came with this was "vehicle with 17 passengers". Does anyone have any info?

9 Haitians, of 17, and the Dominican driver who moved from the border to Santiago, D.R, clandestinely died when the car in which they traveled fell into an irrigation canal. The bodies of the victims lay on the banks of the channel, in the northwest of the Municipality of Navarrete, Santiago Province. They were traveling without documents in a Toyota Camry. The driver of Dominican origin also died in the tragic accident. This is not the first accident of this nature that happens on roads in the Northwest and near the border with illegal immigrants. Several of the 17 undocumented were injured and taken to the Municipal Hospital where they receive medical attention. The identities of the dead and wounded were not released due to lack of documentation. Representatives of civil protection organizations and the police came to the tragic scene, who proceeded to inform their superiors. So far, the authorities have not clearly established how the tragedy occurred. |
