Seven Dead After Highway Collision Between Van and Truck
PE-360, Pernambuco, Brazil At least seven people were killed after a head-on collision between a van and a truck on the PE-360 highway, between the municipalities of Floresta and Ibimirim. The van was completely destroyed, and the truck caught fire after the crash. Preliminary reports indicate that the impact may have occurred in the van's lane. The van belonged to the Petrolândia City Hall's "Treatment Outside the Home" program, and was transporting patients for specialized appointments and treatments in Arcoverde, around three hours away. The van had departed Petrolândia, around an hour from where the crash occurred, with nine occupants - eight patients and the driver - picking up one additional driver along the way. Six people in the van died: Ricardo E.d.S., 56, the driver, who was off-duty and working an extra shift Hilda M.d.L., 67 Maria L.C.F., Hilda's granddaughter Josefa F.d.S. Luzilene M.S.M. Francisca M.d.S.C.  The truck driver was also killed - his corpse was found carbonized. |
