Re: Security Guard Gunned Down with AK47
I think I'm probably opening myself up for some bullshit reception here, but maybe I can help tone down the antagonism just a bit. The ak-47 the most destructive weapon in history? In accumulated havoc since 1947, probably, just a guess going by the sheer number of rifles out there. Most destructive per round, which is what i think was intended by the comparison to A-10's, nukes, and the like? Hell no. Damn fine weapon, in so far as punch per round and reliability. But the 7.62x39 is just not capable of absolutely fine accuracy. Not my claim, backed up by research done by Hornady, I think. This was in the last issue of book of the ak-47. They were trying to get a minute of angle ak-47, couldn't make it work. Changed barrel lengths, twist rates, bullet weights, powder charges, everything. finally went with a 6.5mm and that turned the trick. That being said, it is still a fine design, and you are far from unarmed if that is what you have, it just isnt capable(the odd exceptionally well built ak aside) of hostage rescue type accuracy(meaning, to me, anyway, MOA). There is no point in flaming everybody you don't agree with as to their experience or what they offer as observation. and I will probably get accused of being a call of duty or modern warfare poser that has never even seen sand. Not the case, and I am not going to post either of my dd-214's or my last erb on this site to prove it. I never was Delta, C.A.G., SeaLs, American Jedi, whatever. I was just a gunner's Mate and then A Combat Medic Paratrooper, not the end-all be-all expert. |
