I just don't see how a reasonable person can conclude that the shoplifter was seriously going to cause harm. The guard attacked from the start and the person kept trying to leave. That little motion in the video was them spitting and then they immediately started to turn around and walk away before getting shot.

Where is the reasonable suspicion that they had a weapon? There were no threatening motions or gestures other than the tiny flinch used to spit. They may have said something, but their actions don't back up the words. I saw what the DA said. Don't judge the facts on the video. As opposed to what? That's what clearly happened lmao.

This is in a grey area, the person turned around and although unarmed made a gesture as if to go for another attack and that with technical terms is grounds for lethal force per a stand your ground law one could argue, but it all depends on where the bullet hit, though I don’t understand why dude didn’t have less lethal means such as a taser, or some kind of spray to pacify the threat, granted they were allegedly committing a crime and when confronted they resisted that’s what I see but definitely an abuse of power in excessive force and unnecessary escalation, that was a solid tackle, cuff and do your paperwork but as soon as he overpowered they attempted to flee and they just stood there…. Lack of training kill’s people and that’s where I can see this officer possibly being charged
