Yes, I read this part of the article. That doesn’t change anything. There was another case in Florida(?) where a guy pushed over another man regarding a handicapped parking spot. The guy on the ground shot him dead on the basis of Stand Your Ground. Guess what? He was convicted and sentenced to prison for something like 20 years if I’m not mistaken.

So, this conclusion reached by the DA is very disappointing and quite surprising for what I thought San Francisco stood for. As I explained above, it really seems to depend on what judge/DA you get on any specific day, but if this stands, it is setting a very dangerous precedent for San Fran. One that could see criminals match this new level of aggression with firearms instead of the current shoplifting without violence incidents.

Petty theft has been decriminalized in many metropolitan areas and while the police may do something the district attorneys won't prosecute. So they're not criminals anymore they're just degenerates. And with no support from law enforcement stores like Walgreens are forced to either accept the losses or close or hire private security to try and minimize the losses, the latter is what we see here.

It’s my understanding that he wasn’t shot because he stole something. He was shot because of the repeated threats to stab the guard.

I have a friend who works at Walgreens who says she's sick to death of people walking mainly to the perfume and makeup and hair care aisles and just grabbing what they want and casually walking out of the store.
