A combination of a very sharp sword, and a skilled swordsman who can do such a neat decapitation with a single hand. I can cut through a carpet roll but only using two hands with my Tai Chi sabre.

It's sharp, it's the proper size, weight & design and it was wielded by a pro that knows what he's doing. Makes all the difference. Like anything else. There are professional executioners in Saudi Arabia, but there is a shortage these days. I have read that the Saudis are going increasingly to other forms of execution. |

I assume the person didn't suffer as it was quick unlike some of these butchers who use small knives etc and hack away!!!
