He looked like he was going to get away with it near the end when his vertical speed dropped off, I've seen a couple of people come down faster than that and survive, albeit with nasty injuries, but they landed on their feet. Maybe he was going for the broken legs scenario. Then landed on his back

I’ve been in the exact same situation, the risers got twisted up, so instead of fucking about trying to untwist them I cut loose the main canopy and hit the reserve.

Which is what this guy should have done long before he hit the ground.
