The muslims are the ultimate pirates. From the 9th century to the 19th century muslims pirates from north africa were responsible for raiding european coastal towns. Over 1.2 million europeans, mainly from Italy and Spain but also France, England, Ireland, Holland and Iceland, were kidnapped and sold into slavery. Their religion permits piracy against non muslims, they call it razzias. The only reason they stopped it was because the French, Italians and Spanish decided to colonise the north african coast.
