He could indeed "float like a butterfly and sting like a bee" - dance around you while you flailed futilely and then suddenly hit you six times before you knew what had happened.

I'm not disputing anything you said there, it's your opinion and I accept Ali had lightning fast hands and feet. He was an intelligent man and that translated into his fighting (Mike Tyson is also remarkably intelligent, but an entirely different soul).

What I didn't like about Ali's style is it was often defensive, drawing fire and then countering it, and going forward he used the jab a lot and he used the clinch to tire opponents like Lennox Lewis.

Both Lewis and Ali won many points victories that went the distance and I know it is technically brilliant boxing but it just doesn't fire me up like Tyson. Lewis and Ali also won many fights but took a lot of punishment back.

How many Tyson victories have you seen where Mike was covered in blood, face smashed up and it was decided by the score card ? (obviously I am using the question rhetorically)

I like exciting and novel styles of fighting. I was like that also when I fought, I preferred to risk losing just for the chance to do win with spinning kicks (hook or back roundhouse usually) because if you get a win like that the feeling is immense and spectators buzz off it, which makes me buzz. It's part of my character.

One of my best mates who trained with me was the complete opposite, (and he's a Lewis fan) He just wanted to grind people down slowly and score points. I fought him also a few times and it was just a shit boring experience. So it's probably down to personality who you prefer out of Tyson or Ali, but to say who the better is of the two is a very tough call. Like I said, over 5 fights I would give it 3-2 to Iron Mike !

Don't know if you ever watched "Prince" Naseem Hamed ? I used to love his style. Proper taking the piss but insanely talented. He is well worth watching. And yeah I know he got his arse kicked by Barrera at the end of his career, but that's not my point. He was just fun and awesome to see, and at his peak unstoppable.
