Rescuers found the body of a woman who drowned in an ice-hole near St. Petersburg. The search for the poor fellow lasted for 9 days and only now they were able to find her. Divers and underwater drones were involved in the search. The body was found 150 meters from the Rozhdestvensky bridge downstream. This is about one kilometer from the hole in which the deceased dived. |

I didn't mind the video at all because there was no brutality or pain involved. That woman died quick and painlessly. Her family got to see her die with no violence. Sure there was immediate shock, but there are many worse ways you can see your wife/mother die. In agony following a car wreck, for example. I would not want to view a painful death, live or via video.

Drowning (fully immersed) people are unconscious after 2 minutes. During that time, people will hold their breath for about 30 seconds, then most start gradually inhaling water. Most actively drowning people quickly become semi-paralyzed, which increases with time. Then they get dopey and simply black out. Survivors say there is no real pain while drowning. The pain comes from coughing water out of your lungs if you happen to be rescued, or if you ingest and cough out water in the period prior to full immersion. The Russian woman immediately went to full immersion. So, I guess in her drowning there may have been a minute of panic and mental stress which qualifies as suffering, but it was painless and relatively short-lived. |

Bunch of morons. If you want to do stupid things, ok, your choice, your risk. But if you want to live, why not take a few precautions. Maybe tie on a rope. Maybe hold someone's hand. And the guy seemed to know right away. So maybe put a long rod down to check the current. And im not sure if she just got lost, or was swept away. But it may have helped if the shined all their lights in that hole immediately, so maybe she would see where the hole was.  |

She knew what she was doing. This was a piece of ice they cut on the river and removed themselves instead of going to one that was enclosed with a cage underneath for safety. She knew to slowly walk into the river instead of jumping in at an angle like she's at a pool. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
