1) cycling on a dark road (actually only that stretch of road has not light) 2) wearing black jacket 3) no front and/or back light 4) cycling on the opposite direction side of the road 5) cycling about 1m (ie. almost half of a lane the width of the road is 2.5m) away from the edge of a single lane road 6) cycling at some speed, not slow ride 7) not wearing helmet If he was another 10 second faster, he might be riding on the bright side of the road and might avoid the death. He seems to be trying to avoid the car from direct hit by shifting his bike more to the left of the car before he was hit as the car seems to be running more on the right side of the road. |

At 21:37 on August 22, on the 114th kilometer of the Kempolovo-Vyra-Tosno-Shapki road, a 26-year-old woman, driving a BMW 328 from Tosno towards Shapki, hit an 18-year-old cyclist who was driving on the right side of the road in the opposite direction. The recording, published by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, shows that the young man suddenly appeared on the roadway and collided with the BMW literally head-on. He himself flew aside from the impact, and the bicycle was thrown forward several meters. The cyclist died at the scene from his injuries. As previously reported, he was a freshman from St. Petersburg. The motorist is also a Petersburger, she has not had any traffic violations over the past year and a half. The incident is under investigation. |
