Re: Russia - Cement Truck Worker Killed In Explosion
Doesn't really matter what he was hauling or what it was.......just know he got a fair amount of it up his nose.

Re: Russia - Cement Truck Worker Killed In Explosion
Maybe, but a combustible dust explosion is always accompanied by a flame and/or fireball, which was not observed here. I think this looks more like catastrophic failure of the pressure hatch. You can see the guy struggle to open the hatch, which should have told him the tank was still under high pressure. He may have been impatient waiting for the tank to depressurize from the valve at the back of the tank and thought he could loosen the top hatch to help bleed off air quickly. Unless several safety mechanisms failed all at once I would chalk this up to user fuck up. |

Re: Russia - Cement Truck Worker Killed In Explosion
Pneumatic dry bulk tanker. Since cement is a dry, powder like product they pressurize the tank and "blow" it off to deliver it. The last step after unloading is bleeding off all the pressure, a step that Ivan obviously forgot to do.

Re: Russia - Cement Truck Worker Killed In Explosion
there is additives used in concrete that are highly combustible. but this trailer looks to me like the ASH (which is a by product of making concrete) trailer tanks. also very caustic and can pressurize. i dont know the actual chemical name of it. but its nasty and will wear soles of work boots out in about 2 weeks. i used to work for a trash hauling company that hauled a concrete companies ash away. so houseoftechno is almost right. this ash is non flammable unless open flame occurs. as you can see NO flame at all. i dont think it exploded with fire. it was under high pressure which looks like an explosion, like when a tire explodes. anyway thats what i think this is. and thats exactly what it looks like. that ash can also harden and completely destroy a 100k trailer. if left inside there for too long. now im not "concrete" guy, but i do knowthe process and by products. and what they can do. |

Re: Russia - Cement Truck Worker Killed In Explosion
The blow of the hatch cover of the truck on the worker was caught on a video published in the Telegram channel “What is there in Moscow?” According to the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region, at a cement plant in Kolomna, a worker, 59 year old A, climbed onto a truck tank to check the condition of the manhole covers. When tightened, the pressure manhole cover snapped open and hit the man. He died from his injury. The plant is conducting a pre-investigation check aimed at establishing the causes and circumstances that led to the accident. |

Re: Russia - Cement Truck Worker Killed In Explosion
My guess is they filled the tank early in the day when the temps are low then later on that day in the heat pressure built in the tank then blew the lid off killing the driver.
