Never understood how this could happen.

Car with a manual transmission stalling right on the tracks? There should still be plenty of time to at least exit the vehicle
Wheels of the car somehow get stuck in the crevices where the tracks are? Again, there should still be plenty of time to exit the vehicle.

A big truck having their trailer bottom out on the tracks would make sense and we've seen that here but usually the cab is past the tracks when that happens.

It's just strange. Who parks on railroad crossings..?
