I think it’s because they look like silly puppets with bug eyes, often their tongues are protruding, the bloating of the body and the fluid underneath. I know it’s a gross, smelly, gory mess but I do find a bit of humor in it. Probably not if I were there having to deal with it personally but from my viewing perspective I find it funny.
