I can understand your point of view. Thieves per se shouldn't be executed on the spot for just sneaking into someone's house and stealing property. They should get due process if apprehended and prosecuted fairly and punished in direct proportion to the crime they commited. Now if they're brutal home invaders or habitually violent punks than it's different story. The guy who shot him was probably a more violent punk than the thief was. Life is full of dark ironies like that.
