You know, sometimes you don't feel much pain. I was once beaten by a group of lads, I had my teeth smashed in and head smashed in, and I can remember not even being phased by the pain, I was just glad I was alive, I remember getting up walking to the road, and stopping a car, and this man and women where just shocked later they told the press: "It felt like we'd seen a ghost" even in the hospital everyone was shocked, and all through this I don't remember pain, I just remember being really pissed off and angry when I was out of the hospital about a week later, all I could imagine was finding these guys, and beating the shit out of them, now I was only 19 at the time and only weighed about 7.5 stones, but for a few months I did not fear anyone I felt like superman. But I remember when folks came to visit me, telling me if I was in pain, and I was not in pain.
You when something like this happens your brain starts realising huge amounts of dopamine, and your serotonin levels increases your brain just blocks the pain out, it is a survival mechanism.
In any case, my face looks fine now, in fact I married the woman I loved, and I forgive the persons who did this to me, in fact we are friends now.
I know the feeling. I got stomped to the concrete by 10 guys in high school. I ended up with a busted nose and a black eye and bruise on one side of my neck from boots and a scrape on the other side of my face from the concrete. After I got up and realized where I was I grabbed a bike to go after them before being stopped by a cop.

I didn't feel any pain until the next morning ... when a 2 week migraine began.
