I wonder if the rough terrain where the missile hit disrupted the shock wave that would have lethally transmitted through the bodies of most those dudes. You can clearly see these guys moving out there after the explosion, I wonder if they were indeed fatally wounded, but still alive - considering that a shock wave would rupture their insides completely - or whether the hills took away some of the blast force.

Re: Resting Group of Syrian Soldiers Hit by an Anti-tank Guided Missile

Gyroscopic stabilization. It's not slowly swirling around the group, it's spinning as it's tracking to the target point. Many air to ground missiles and ground launched rockets "spiral" like that. It aids them in staying on track. It's just the point of view in the particular video that makes it visible.

It's actually moving exceedingly fast (just traveling a great distance) and since it's larger and slower than a bullet as well as the fact that it has exhaust coming from the rocket motor, you can see it. They never heard it or saw it.

And believe it or not to those calling a bad shot and saying they lived/went deaf - you don't have to "hit" them to kill them with something like this. Just getting in the general vicinity is plenty to turn off their birthdays. Don't need to splatter them to turn their brains into mush. The shockwave is more than enough. It causes massive internal trauma even if you weren't hit at all by the projectile or shrapnel. Most were definitely killed instantly or near it, while some **may** have lived if they got help quickly enough in a brilliant trauma center (which I doubt).

If I recall correctly, in terms of blast pressure it only takes about 3psi to cause massive injury depending on surroundings (and sometimes kill) while 4psi is extremely likely to cause fatal injury (almost always without medical aid) and above that it just increases exponentially in likelihood of you being dead with 10psi and above being almost guaranteed to kill you.
The human body can survive relatively high blast overpressure without experiencing barotrauma. A 5 psi blast overpressure will rupture eardrums in about 1% of subjects, and a 45 psi overpressure will cause eardrum rupture in about 99% of all subjects. The threshold for lung damage occurs at about 15 psi blast overpressure. A 35-45 psi overpressure may cause 1% fatalities, and 55 to 65 psi overpressure may cause 99% fatalities. (Glasstone and Dolan, 1977; TM 5-1300, 1990)

20psi is nearly 100% fatal
