Ehh...I would be careful about using pickup lines unless you feel confident enough in yourself to use them and can give off a carefree vibe while saying it. Any tinge of insecurity when using pickup lines will likely be the deal breaker and can have embarassing results. If anything, this kind of approach will overcomplicate something that should be exciting and fun.

For a good ice breaker, find something within your surroundings that you can casually make a comment or observation about, look her in the eye and say it. For an example, I once sat next to this girl in one of my college classes, and the instructor who taught it basically had a level of enthusiasm comparable to Ben Stein on a Xanax binge. So finally, I just said to her one day, "Is it just me, or am I the only one who gets sleepy almost as soon as this guy starts talking?" Long story short, she had a boyfriend already, but we did go out to lunch a few times after that and wound up getting to know each other quite personally.

That kind of approach almost always worked for me in most settings. There is no fool proof method however and you got to be able to avoid getting taken down too personally. That being said, and anyone here or elsewhere will say the say thing, you need to have confidence in yourself and portray that while talking to her. Projecting and emphasizing negative outcomes will instill unnecessary and irrational fear. You're much better off taking the risk and giving yourself a chance.

I can say from my own experiences that the only thing worse than those times that I did get turned down-everybody who tries has this happen to them at least a few times in their lives-were those when I didn't even try. Trust me on this one, it is much much worse. Contemplating on what could have been is much more demoralizing and much more damaging to your self-confidence in the long run as opposed to knowing for certain whether or not your expectations would have actually come to fruition.

In reality, it really isn't that complicated. If you have confidence in yourself, everything else will fall in place and so will the chemistry without even thinking about it. Hope this helps.
