It happen 5 days ago was around 400 feet away from where i live and in the news they change story that he was assaulting police with weapons and few weeks ago they killed another person sitting down with a lettuce knife and he didint do nothin.

Not sure if the suspect had anything in his hands. The video was too blurry to see anything..

IMHO "Escalation of Force" should have been practiced.. Non-lethal force applied first i.e; baton's, pepper spray, tazers, e.t.c..

Uncertain of the facts in this specific case, but sometimes people who have the authority to use deadly force, don't exercise the ability correctly. Kind of like a doctor who malpractices????

Unfortunately, this video is like so many others that show, at best, shaky and unfocused images and move off target at just the most critical moment. We have no idea what initially happened that caused the officers to draw their handguns and repeatedly order the bad guy to stop and comply. It looks like officers did Tase him (at least once), but again with all the idiots jabbering and screaming throughout the tape I'm not sure, but I think I heard the soft popping/hiss sound of a Taser firing. What I saw during the video was that the bad guy was continually refusing to comply with the officers lawful commands and had at least one arm and hand covered with what might be a large jacket. We can't hear what the bad guy is saying or what the officers are saying because the dummy filming the video won't shut up. All I can see (because the idiot filming moves off target at the exact instant the officer fires his handgun) is that the officer closes with the bad guy and the bad guy turns and moves his covered arm/hand forcefully toward the officer. The officer then shoots the bad guy. We have no idea if the bad guy had a weapon or why he was wanted by officers. If the officer was that close to the bad guy and the bad guy made any type of movement toward the officer, and the officer had a good faith reasonable belief that his life or the life of another was in immediate danger, then it was a completly justified shooting. In spite of what the idiot kept screaming about how officers should have used a Taser, it was not at all necessary at any point in the incident that officers use less lethal force. We don't know a lot of the circumstances that led up to this shooting, but I'm not seeing anything that would overtly show this to be an illegal or unjustified shooting. A word to the wise, when an officer orders you to do something and you don't comply, and that officer then draws his handgun and points it at you, and you still don't comply...don't complain about getting shot. Comply...if it was an illegal order, then at least you'll be alive later to file a complaint or law suit. Get the giant chip off your shoulder and live a lawful life and the cops won't bother you. Why is this so difficult to understand.

By the way, watch how long the officers waited, followed, and watched the bad guy before shooting him. If they were the trigger happy bloodthirsty Nazis everyone assumes they are, then why didn't they just shoot the bad guy and be done with it. I thought the cops used almost too much restraint. What if we find out that the bad guy was wanted fir murder or rape or child molesting, and was concealing a butcher knife or handgun within that jacket on his arm? If that was the case, those officers took a huge huge risk in trying everything they could to get the bad guy to comply. They gave him every opportunity they could to comply...why didn't he?

Salinas Police Release CCTV Video of Controversial Officer-Involved Shooting

Police have released videos of a controversial shooting that has caused an uproar in a California community after cell phone footage of the incident was posted to YouTube earlier this week.
The Salinas Police Department published two videos on Thursday, one of the cell phone footage and another from an overhead surveillance camera, which show the deadly shooting of 44-year-old Carlos Mejia by police officers on Tuesday.
Police said Mejia was threatening a woman with garden shears, and refused to comply with officers when they asked him to drop the shears.
“The officers followed Mr. Mejia, continuing to order him to drop the weapon. As he neared the corner of Del Monte and Sanborn, he planted a foot, turned, and lunged at the nearest officer, with the shears raised,” police said in a statement Thursday.

Salinas Police Chief Kelly McMillin told ABC News today that he believes the second overhead view provides more context to the incident.
“Much of the video out there is bad, bad quality,” he said, referring to the cell phone video. “At the end, you don’t actually see the moment of the shooting.”
The release of the videos follows a week of protests and unrest in Salinas. The incident marks the third officer-involved shooting of the year, and all three people who were shot have been Hispanic.
The tensions boiled over on Wednesday, when a large crowd gathered near the scene of the latest incident to demonstrate what protesters said was police brutality. Some demonstrators threw bottles and other objects at police, according to ABC San Francisco affiliate KGO.
Protester Ricardo Salinas questioned the actions of police in the Tuesday shooting.
“The man was obviously drunk. Why couldn’t they knock him over? Why couldn’t they baton him? If every officer has a Taser, if one misfires the other should be ready with the next one,” he told KGO, referring to the fact that one officer’s Taser apparently malfunctions in the cell phone video.
Mejia’s family could not be reached by ABC News for comment.
A review of the incident will be sent to a county commission and the FBI, McMillin said.
In the meantime, while McMillin acknowledged “there is work to be done” in police-community relations, he expressed hope that upcoming meetings and reviews would strengthen bonds between law enforcement and the community.

Three Hispanics shot? What's the Latino population percentage in Salinas? I'm sure it's pretty high...what do they expect? If the whole damn city is predominantly Latino then I'm guessing that the probability of shooting a Latino criminal would be pretty good. Why is this so hard to understand? If it was Garden Grove or Westminster CA, I bet the police would be shooting a lot of Asians. So the whole police department is now judged to be racist because they police a high percentage Latino population city and when someone gets shot they're usually Latino? Does no one actually think critically any more? Gee, let me see now, so if the police in Dublin Ireland get into shootings and the bad guys all turn out to be short, White, and have red hair, does that make the Dublin Police rasist? How stupid.

Anybody who is able to draw any solid conclusions based on this video already had their mind made up before they watched it and shouldn't be listened to.
