Prisoner Dismembered by Other Inmates
On the afternoon of 11th December 2018, a detainee was murdered at the Metropolitan State Prison of Marituba in Belém. The man, who had been in prison since 2015, had been transferred to this prison for a court hearing the day before + was due to return back to his prison on the 12th. It has been said that the man was murdered by members of a rival criminal faction. The man had been guarded alone for security reasons but his cell was broken into when inmates gained access to the sorting wing during the delivery of lunch. The man had '10 lawsuits for damages, armed robbery, drug trafficking, bank robbery, facilitating escape into national territory + militia training'.
