Because people believe in free will. Unfortunately most people haven't bothered to think about the problem too much so don't understand that free will is an illusion. Without it, we can't ascribe blame. That makes a lot of simple people uncomfortable because a lot of people are just emotional retards. Once you understand that we're all influenced by prior causes beyond our control there is no need to assign blame, only a certain type of accountability. We don't have to blame anyone for being a crazy acting addict, but if you are a crazy acting addict, then that's a problem which needs to be dealt with one way or another. In this case, it was by being shot by police. |

becoming a police officer doesn't automatically give you a license to kill. they could have subdued the guy and let him ride the high out. theyre trained to deal with these crack heads

Did you watch the same video as I did? I ask because that scene was about as far away from a stabbing frenzy as it could get. An old geriatric holding a knife and standing 30 feet away from 10 or so armed police officers. What a pathetic display of policing.
