Police Released This Bodycam Video of an Officer-involved Shooting & Death

D.L.B., 56, of Muskogee, was shot and killed by Muskogee police officers after he advanced on them, brandishing a kitchen knife. Officers had initially arrived to respond to a domestic disturbance call, said Public Information Officer Lincoln Anderson.

"'He's stabbed me, and he's going to kill my mother' — that was our initial dispatch," Anderson said.

When officers arrived at the residence, they found two women who had been stabbed and one woman who had been struck in the face, Anderson said. The two stabbed women, mother and daughter Debra Smith and Jennifer Dodd, were admitted to Saint Francis Muskogee Hospital in critical condition, but have since stabilized, Anderson said.

When asked whether or not the women were expected to survive, Anderson said he did not have that information available. A marketing representative for Saint Francis Hospital said that condition reports were unavailable due to their relevance to an ongoing investigation.

Anderson also noted that Smith had filed a protective order against B., though police believe that order was not served to B. prior to the attack.

Eight of the officers involved in the incident have been placed on paid administrative leave while the Muskogee Police Department conducts an internal investigation into the use of force, Anderson said.

The public information officer reiterated that officers made multiple attempts, including a taser, beanbags and a flashbang grenade, to disarm or dissuade B. before relying on lethal force.

"It's bad all the way around," Anderson said. "We have a duty to our community to go out and protect who we need to protect. Our officers did everything they could possibly have done, but we can't make those decisions for him [B.] We can only react to his decisions."

Shooting happens at 4:20
