A criminal was shot dead by police, and another was injured, whilst they were leaving a pharmacy after committing an armed robbery there. The two men were attempting to flee on a Yamaha motorcycle when officers opened fire on the robbers.

The deceased robber was identified only as Brian. The surviving robber, Jose Fabio Gomes, was wounded in the collarbone and arm. He was discharged and taken into custody. Officers seized a .32 calibre revolver with six intact rounds of ammunition from him.

Police also recovered around 40,000 reals ($7,700) worth of merchandise, in addition to five cell phones and two watches stolen from customers and employees. The Yamaha motorcycle had a cloned license plate and was reported stolen in July. There are indications that the two men also committed another pharmacy robbery hours earlier.

Guess these are the Brazilian police "death squads" we heard so much about. What countries would that be a justified shooting? Help me, I have no legal experience. I'm not complaining, I am relieved the cops didn't take ANY chances. Could the police claim they were fleeing violent criminals after the car hit them and they were on the ground?

I wonder why the driver didn't broadside them with the car to take them out of action. Maybe he can't go home satisfied if he hasn't capped an asshole criminal using his gun...
