Over-kill by Police is a reason of great riot now, in American town. I'm glad they're fighting for their rights. Cops in USA must be put to normal level of danger, their rights to kill people right at place MUST be removed.

In Soviet Union, militia potentially could shoot people, but they must make many deeds before. And write MANY papers after, with a big risk to be fired. So practically no one of them ever tried to shoot people (even people shooting at cops!). It is better for Soviet militia to fight them with bare hands, I do not know maybe you take weak men into American police, but Soviet police consists of strong and trained men, so they do not need to shoot unarmed people.

If I remember it right, Soviet policeman must do following:
1. Say "Stop! I will shoot!"
2. Wait for 10 seconds.
3. Say "Stop! I will shoot!"
4. Wait for 10 seconds.
If criminal will not surrender, then:
5. Shoot IN AIR.
6. Say "Stop! I will shoot!"
7. Wait for 10 seconds.
8. Shoot IN AIR second time.
9. Say "Stop! I will shoot!"
10. Wait for 10 seconds.
11. Then, if criminal is not surrendering, he can shoot.

We must use this humane system in America.
Cop can use his hands immediately, without any delays and shouts (unlike gun).

Exactly but cops are so scared of that knife...don't they get hand to hand combat training???? The cop didn't have to do this you are completely right. Doesn't it seem pointless though on them coming to the house to prevent a suicide by then making it a homicide???? Well not really homicide because it was a cop and he was probably scared whilst he was holding a gun to someone with a knife....

He did it to himself because you don't walk towards a cop with a knife while the cop is telling you to put the knife down, its obvious that the person with the gun is going to defend him/herself

I gotta say, officer should have retreated to the outside of apartment. The officer had already asked about any other exits-[none]-one way in, one way out. There were other officers on scene. Why were they not gathering up non lethal weapons and poised outside, ready to use them. If the suspect holes up inside, that is what negotiators, tear gas, flash grenades, bean bags, K9, tactical unit, & SWAT is for. No need to kill the suspect inside his home. Had the officer retreated to outside, the only one in the home in harms way was the suspect. Had the suspect exited the apartment, he would have then become a threat to others and non lethal force could have been used.
