Re: Police Officer Kills Suicidal Man For Refusing To Drop Knives
That was, and no pun intended, overkill. I noticed the policeman kept his hand over the camera so we couldn't get a clear view of what the guy was doing. He was coming toward the policeman, but, a couple of warning shots in the legs or arms may have been enough to stop and arrest him. Here is a photo of Eric Johnston, and one of Eric and Wendy Woods. He appears to be a regular, nice looking guy. |

Re: Police Officer Kills Suicidal Man For Refusing To Drop Knives
Suicide by cop is a possibility, or drugs. The officer made sure the camera was recording the whole thing, so I don't think he had any malevolent intentions. Nice post! |

Re: Police Officer Kills Suicidal Man For Refusing To Drop Knives
Having many law enforcement friends and family your views are totally biased. A cop could shoot someone from behind execution style and your pathetic ass would defend them. If a cop can't hit a person's leg while walking toward them from 10 feet away, they do NOT deserve to be cops. |

Re: Police Officer Kills Suicidal Man For Refusing To Drop Knives
I rewatched the video, IMO, I don't think it was suicide by cop. The officer actually had to seek out and peep around the corner to find the suspect backed all the way up against the kitchen cabinets. The suspect does move "slowly" toward the officer. The officer backs away but still fires multiple times. I did not see any attempt of the officer to purposely block the camera. What I did see was the camera shots getting blocked each time the officer used his radio. This really is just a tragedy.

Re: Police Officer Kills Suicidal Man For Refusing To Drop Knives
I understand the point off the assholes last thread on the cop shooting this guy, however he could had shot the fuck in the leg and then back off too see if safely arrest. He went way to by the book and used to much excessive lethal force with 5 discharges. Im not a fucking cop and I can tell you right now,had I been there shot to the leg I would do,back off and duck just to make sure he has been neutralized and then arrest him. Just because some cop got shot in the face one time because he only fired one shot and not 5 kill shots in some random incident that is usually unlikely, does not mean it will happen again so dam easily. This cop is in America, protect and serve? The guy killed in his own house. Would had been better if he shot him like that outside. Because then he can be considered a danger to the general public.

Re: Police Officer Kills Suicidal Man For Refusing To Drop Knives
Hmmmm, let me think on that comment a bit. The man-[suspect]-with the knife has to first aim it at the target, secondly, suspect has to move with the speed of Superman to get to the victim, while the victim "stands their ground & refuses to flee or retreat", third, the suspect has to have an accurate aim to strike the victim. Oh, & lets add in the suspect is drunk. Now the cop has his weapon drawn, aimed, & finger on the trigger. The cop backs up in unison as the suspect encroaches & then rapidly fires slower moving bullets than Superman speed victim + allegedly sober cop. What is wrong with that picture? Options? Start with RETREAT! End with use of non lethal weapons/force. One more life saved. |
