Police Officer Commits Self-Immolation Outside Lover's House
Audio warning Polonnaruwa, North Central Province, Sri Lanka A police officer took his own life by dousing himself with petrol and setting himself on fire at a house. The incident occurred around 9pm on the 19th. The man, who was a police sergeant, was admitted to the hospital in critical condition with severe burn injuries, and passed away on the night of the 20th while undergoing treatment. Police investigations have revealed that the officer self-immolated due to emotional distress stemming from an illicit affair he had with a woman residing at the house where the incident took place. |
