No, gun bans have been done here several times over the years and none have worked to reduce crime...they also haven't worked anywhere else.

And banning guns "of a certain size" means absolutely nothing, as most firearms recovered off the streets used in homicides are of small calibers anyway.


But perhaps the most mind-boggling thing is people like you are of the opinion that guns cause homicides. Do you also believe spoons and forks make people fat in the U.K.? Do pencils cause misspelled words there too?

i was refering to knives of a certain size not guns, i know iys people that kill not guns but without them its a hell of a lot harder to kill people. if all guns were banned in the us, thousands of lives would be saved each year, i accept it would take 5-10 years but it would get loads better

The Democrats here absolutely despise guns and think the same way as you do, and no gun control measure they have ever passed has done anything to reduce crime. Matter of fact, funny you should mention 5-10 years...we had a "ban" in effect from 1994 to 2004 when it expired. Crime was no different during that 10 year period like they thought it was going to be.

I find it hilarious (and mind-boggling) that people think making something illegal somehow makes all the problems go away.

Lmfao...you aren't closing down every gun shop no matter what, so that's not even a option. Sorry but this isn't Europe, people don't follow the government like mindless drones...you completely disable the legal sale of guns you're gonna have 300+ million pissed-off people real quick-like, and the majority of those 300+ million already have several guns.

On top of that, it wouldn't matter anyway...most drugs are either illegal or controlled, and I can buy those no problem whatsoever in both the U.S. and Europe. Anything "banned" simply means the buying/selling goes underground just like it always has.

That's just my point...why should you or anyone else decide what gun is "acceptable" for me to own, or protect myself and my family with? A gun is a gun, it either is one or it isn't...just because some nutcase gets his hands on a gun and shoots a place up doesn't have anything to do with me.

You say "you don't need guns to walk down the street". Please tell me how you know I will not be a victim of a robbery, carjacking, or anything else while in public because there is ALWAYS someone out there who has less than you and will attempt to take what's yours, no matter where you live. If you can guarantee 100% that these things will never happen to me, I'll leave my gun at home next time. Until then, I will continue to take means to protect myself...it's really not that complicated.
