Re: Police Car Crashes and Kills Pedestrian
Doesn't matter if his lights and sirens were on, he's still beholden to due regard. That department is about to have a couple lawsuits on it's hands. He'll probably not face criminal charges, but definitely civil. The rest of us would lose our job, and possibly freedom for doing stupid shit like this... Cops somehow get a slap on the wrist for killing someone while unnecessarily blowing through a red light. We didn't even pull this on the FD, unless we knew it was absolutely safe. |

Cops don't have a high I.Q. but do have a humongous Q.I. The copper will get a promotion. |

Re: Police Car Crashes and Kills Pedestrian
Police and other emergency responders have legal permission to run red lights, speed, go the wrong way, etc etc when responding to an emergency. The cops used at the very least their lights, and likely their siren as well (no audio), therefore the driver who failed to yield is at fault. In my opinion, they should've gone slower and definitely should've kept those lights on all the way through the intersection, but they did activate them and the other driver had plenty of time to see the squad and react.

Re: Police Car Crashes and Kills Pedestrian
By law, when blasting through intersections, as the driver, you are supposed to practice "due regard" for the safety of others and lawfully follow all traffic rules. Shitty circumstances, none the less |
