Another man was arrested yesterday morning, suspected of killing PM Sergeant, A.B.R, 42. Carlos Alberto de Araújo was recognized as the author of the shots and charged with robbery and murder. He was hiding in his girlfriend's farm.

The case will be sent to the Judiciary for the enactment of preventive detention. Also arrested was Brendo Araújo da Silva, suspected of participating in the crime.

The PM Sergeant was killed on the 22nd, at a restaurant near Brazlândia, in the Federal District (DF). The men entered a restaurant and announced the robbery. The PM, who was in plain clothes, reacted and died by a robber firing shots at him.

Another assailant, known as Josué, was wounded and the friends in crime left him in the Brazlândia Hospital, in the Federal District (DF).

On being arrested, Carlos went so far as to declare that Josué murdered the Sergeant and that he was responsible only for driving the car from the escape.

"I parked the car near the restaurant. I heard the shots, then I went back, I accelerated the car, he got in the car and asked to go to the hospital." Brendo already assumed that the gun was stored in the house itself.

Witnesses of the crime, who were also shot during the exchange of shots, recognized Carlos as the author of the shots. In addition, another involved in the crime, known as Higor, gave the same version of the witnesses. He was booked in Taguatinga (DF). Higor would have helped in the escape and the exchange of cars.

The arrest was carried out by a team of six policemen from the 36th Independent Company of the Military Police (CIPM), led by Lieutenant Ibraim.

The farm where Carlos and Brendo stayed was surrounded. The policemen knew they were armed and in the house there would be an old woman and another woman, 8 months pregnant. The two were safely removed from the scene before the action began.

Carlos and Brendo were able to escape and cross a stream but were soon captured. Carlos' girlfriend was also taken to the police station, but was not charged. According to police, the head deputy told that she was free of guilt of the crime and personal favor by having helped the two to hide.
