This is because trainers are in and out of the fight arena even while a fight is underway, and also have to pull the dogs away when the round was ended. A fighting dog would be bred based on aggression wouldn't it?
Yeah, lets just let the dog fight to the death a few times & then let him mingle around other people's kids & animals, and then wonder what happened when he suddenly snaps & kills something.

I guess I see owning a dog like that the same as owning a gun, and I wouldn't let a loaded gun around kids or other animals with the safety off.
I really don't understand getting off on watching animals kill each other either, so WTF do I know?

In my area there has been 2 incidents of pits attacking other peoples dogs & killing them, on city streets and unprovoked.
One time the dog that was attacked was literally ripped into pieces in front of its owner in a matter of a few seconds.
Would never have happened if the dogs were properly controlled, IE muzzled.

Some breeds are specialy picked to breed so over hundreds of years you end up with a breed that is very agressive, strong jaws and teritorial they are banned in the UK. They can turn on a familiy member after being well treated for years. if a kid walks within 100 feet of its house they can maul a kid and nobody can get them off. In the UK a small child is mauled by a banned pitbull breed every year.
