Yes, before he was shot, I figure that should be obvious. It's fairly difficult to charge someone after they've put several bullets into your chest. But if you're nitpicking over my language usage here, then I understand how that could be a difficult concept for you.

"You could have tased him!" Tasers only work a fraction of the time and have a limited range "You could have shot him in the arm/leg!" First, arm and leg shots have the same chance of being fatal as anywhere else below the neck. Second, it takes a high level of training and skill even hit a target in the first place. Unless the suspect were to be completely stationary and the officer who shot was a sharpshooter, hitting an arm or leg is a total gamble. "He was mentally ill!" Doesn't mean he's any less dangerous. If anything, he's more dangerous because he doesn't see reality the way we do and likely can't understand logic. |
