Re: Philly Police Shoot and Kill Knife Wielding Man
Am I the only one who thinks our cops sound like hysterical little sissies? Man was walking away from them. Woman trying to de-escalate, then they start screaming at her. Uggggggh. How dangerous is a man with a knife at that distance? Horrifying. They could have tazed him, but they go from zero to terrified in 1.5 seconds. I hate this shit.

I wonder who decided that screaming the same thing over and over hysterically is a good way to handle a situation.

Re: Philly Police Shoot and Kill Knife Wielding Man
I don't want men who get so easily terrified and who scream like idiots being the ones who are supposed to protect us. I want a brave and calm man to protect us.

Re: Philly Police Shoot and Kill Knife Wielding Man
I'm guessing they didn't have a taser. But its actually police protocol. Which is more dangerous a knife or a taser? If those are the choices I'm taking the knife every time. And police tactics are that the officer is to always use his resources to have the upper hand. Its not logical or reasonable to expect an officer to be like, oh you have a knife? Well let me get my baton. If you're trying to box a cop, he'll use a taser. You pull a knife, he's pulling a gun. Its also procedure to give commands in a way the leaves no question as to the seriousness of the situation. And I'd say you can tell by that cops voice, that he's trying to tell this guy this is fucking serious, you are going to be shot. |

Re: Philly Police Shoot and Kill Knife Wielding Man
I would like to point out that philadelphia police department has a $790,000,000 budget and they cut the funding on lots of other things to help the community. And their last increase was strictly to line their pockets with money. They have the money. Explain to me how with a $790,000,000 budget, they can’t get some fucking tasers? For the record, his mother called for an ambulance because he was having a mental health crisis, not the police. |

There are still residential and in patient facilities for mental health. If you think institutionalization is okay, there’s something seriously wrong with you. Literally look at the history of patient abuse and unsanitary conditions within asylums. You could literally be locked away for something as simple as being an alcoholic.
