Not sure if they are actually slots but probably some other game of chance...

Re: Philly Cop Fatally Shoots Guy Inside Gaming Machines Business

Unfortunately my .gif above doesn't have sound. If you watch the recap video, you can clearly hear the officer get shot before either he or his partner remove the guns from their holsters.

BTW, a Glock pistol has a trigger safety mechanism that prevents it from firing while in the holster. All modern police holsters prevent any possibility of a finger pulling the trigger while unholstered the weapon.

Also, the officer was shot in the anterior right thigh which exited posteriorly, then entered his posterior right calf and exited through his shin. I've isolated the exact frame when the suspects gun is fired showing the relative position of the officer's leg. The adjacent diagram demonstrates the bullet path.
You can clearly see that, even if by some magic the officer's gun fired from within his holster, the bullet's path could never enter his front right thigh.

And, if by additional magic, his partner's gun removed itself from the holster and fired itself, it clearly would have been blocked by our thug. Resulting in our crook having two bullet wounds.

But, then again, JFK was shot by a magic bullet, right?
Ahhh… If that’s where that cop was shot, it’s definitely what happened. There’s no other way.

I couldn’t see where on his leg the cop was shot.
Knowing that, it’s much easier to deduce what actually happened.

I cant breathe, I Dindunuffin. All the typical "let's make this about race" criminal bullshit. Don't carry guns or shoot cops.

Damn. Years of this site and self defense videos on mainstream platforms, really drive home the idea that you gtfo if cops roll up to a scene and start trying to detain someone.

Add to that the small space they were in and multiple people, who could've been, let's say, unfriendly (clear the area), and this was a nightmare scenario for two apparently new officers.

Re: Philly Cop Fatally Shoots Guy Inside Gaming Machines Business

Even if you're correct the call officer should have their body cameras running. That's always suspicious when they're not recording with their body cameras
While more common now, body cameras aren't necessarily standard issue at every PD, even major ones. I do wish they were, though.

Criticisms of LEOs notwithstanding, don't forget about 2020 and how that undid a bit of funding for a lot of them nationwide and how many are still having hiring crises. Seattle PD and the WSP are still dealing with such, although the latter was on a decline before the Summer of Love, but all the worse now.

Same goes for the likes of beanbag shotguns (great pain compliance tools that offer more capacity and distance than TASERs), TASERs (saw them here but these were more common before body cams), and the like. Hell, on body medical kits should be standard issue (running to your vehicle to get medical delays first aid for everyone who needs it rather than having it on-body) but they aren't.

The dedicated light the first officer had to make contact made me think they're underfunded and cops often have to buy their own gear to enhance what's issued to them (e.g. optics aren't standard issue for most departments and you rarely see them in OIS videos involving pistols). A decent handheld light can both illuminate a person's torso (shine it on their chest )and disorient them (splashes into their face) which gives an advantage to the defender (private citizen context).

TLDR not all gear is standard issue across departments for many reasons.

Re: Philly Cop Fatally Shoots Guy Inside Gaming Machines Business

The police were called because the store needed them there for security purposes, aka at the very least “trespassing”… then the cops realized the suspect had an active warrant, because I would be willing to bet all the money I have to my name, he was most likely an already felon and well known by local LEO’s. Felons can’t have firearms, and can’t associate around other felons, etc. all of those reasons are legitimate reasons for police to perform a “terry stop” or routine check/search for weapons/firearms. Then the felon subsequently started to struggle and resist and you could clearly see him reaching for a weapon… if you don’t like/want “police just busting in where ever and iLlEgAlLy searching you” then don’t become a felon and you’ll usually be just fine… notice theres 2 other men in the establishment that didn’t get “iLlEgAlLy” searched by the police, most likely bc they weren’t known felons with active warrants carrying an illegal firearm/firearms…
How dare you use logic!!

But in all seriousness, the guy got what he asked for. Resisting and then reaching for a weapon in his jacket. I love the "I can't breathe" shit before they even got him on the ground.

Basically a slot machine of sorts.
"Pennsylvania skill" machines.
They're everywhere in PA.
They have other types of machines as well.
Vape shops, smoke shops, gambling dens even restaurants have them...
