Re: Philippino Woman Hangs Herself from a ceiling fan

Exactly. It's easy to mistakenly believe that she's still "alive",when it fact the movements are involuntary.

Once the pressure is put on the corotid artery, it takes mere seconds lose consiousness.
I'm sorry, she 'involuntarily' directs one leg towards the ladder, clearly trying to pull it closer a full 60 seconds after she started strangling? That wasn't involuntary or accidental. It was clearly intentional and deliberate.

I understand posturing. I understand involuntary movements. I understand the hanging process and I understand bloodflow to the brain.

I do not understand how a demonstrably focused and intentional maneuver with the clear design of moving a nearby object closer is unconscious and involuntary.

I think she passed out after the first couple of seconds. The rest is just muscle spasms.
Muscle spasms make you attempt to get your feet back on the ladder?

Re: Philippino Woman Hangs Herself from a ceiling fan

She had some moments of regret there and then when she realized she couldn’t get the ladder back, she like resigned herself officially. And relaxed much more.

And to use a ladder, that was a first. At least from the vids I’ve watched on here of people hanging themselves.
Very committed. 9/10.

I was watching a true crime case and the detective was like, who hangs themselves from a ceiling fan.
And I was yelling at the screen, it’s doable! Are Asian ceiling fans a joke to you?!

Body is willing but the brain has gone, but like some people that are in government positions.

Re: Philippino Woman Hangs Herself from a ceiling fan

i love the lines of "she changed her mind"

maybe, but seriously, just look at the video of the syrian girl hanging herself - she actually stopped her hanging part way through . . . to re-adjust the camera and the knot; not to change her mind. if she didn't quite stand up in that situation the usual "she changed her mind" chorus would be happening even though it was obvious she was going to go through with it

Didn’t the posturing start almost immediately after she’d pushed the ladder away and started flexing her hands weirdly?

it seemed to - but there also seems some validity in the suggestion that she reached for the ladder as well

i'm still in the first camp, but the 2nd camp doesn't seem so preposterous in this situation

I think she was conscious on some level for a long time. Her movements seem to say that she changed her mind, but couldn't get the ladder back. She tried to stop the strangulation, but was unable to do so. This video was heartbreaking.

Re: Philippino Woman Hangs Herself from a ceiling fan

I'm not going to opine on what was or wasn't going through what was left of her brain at any point. Second thoughts, panic, impatience, static, white noise...there is no way whatsoever to know that as an outside observer.

But I'm standing firm in my assertion that there was deliberation in that ladder-reach with her leg. I'm not sure how she could have had enough consciousness 60 seconds in to make that gesture, but it was simply too deliberate and focused to be an involuntary spasm in my opinion.
