Pharmacy Owner Shot Dead by Bandits, Possibly Over Extortion
A woman suffered gunshot wounds while she was inside a pharmacy in the northwest of Guayaquil, Ecuador. It was learned that around midnight on Friday the 20th, a person fired several shots at the pharmacy. As a result, the citizen, who is the owner of the business, was injured and was taken to a health centre. However, a few hours later, the hospital confirmed her death. While police have not confirmed the facts, it is being unofficially reported that extortion threats were being made in the area, and that this may be connected to the woman's death. For now, investigations are continuing to find the attacker and, if necessary, their accomplices. |

When are these people going to learn that a secure staging area needs to be built in-between the street and the store, so the shop owner can buzz you in and out? You shoot the store owner...and he or she can't buzz you out. Then, after a few minutes of trying to figure out how you're going to escape, sharks with freaking laser beams on their heads appear and blow YOUR fucking brains out. So there. |

Re: Pharmacy Owner Shot Dead by Bandits, Possibly Over Extortion
a man requests something from the victim, who was attending his business, to which she replies " there is no " and immediately goes to serve another customer. However, the subject, dressed in black and with a cap, remains standing in the same place for several seconds, in front of the bars of the premises. After that, he walks, takes something out of the sweater he was wearing and addresses the lady, who falls to the ground and dies from a gunshot wound. According to versions, the criminal would have demanded $3,000 from the woman under the form of extortion , also known as a vaccine, but she would not have agreed to pay. At the beginning of this year, the National Assembly approved a bill that includes a set of reforms aimed at strengthening comprehensive security , among which is the toughening of penalties for extortion called " vaccines ." Regarding the sanctions that the crime of extortion entails, which includes the so-called "vaccines", the project seeks to modify article 185 of the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP). In this way, the reforms will increase the value of the fine corresponding to this crime up to 36 thousand dollars and will establish prison sentences of up to seven years. Aggravating factors will also be introduced for the crime, such as periodically committing extortion and making threats against the integrity of the victim, both key elements of the "vaccinators'" modus operandi. |
