shooter have bad timing. the knife is pointed directly at the hostage when he shot. dying reflex could have plunged the knife in the hostage's neck. it almost did. just luck that the knife wrist folded back to hit the hostage broadside. idiot police.

well, american negotiators would confused the hostage taker and draw away his hand safely away from the victim before they fired a shot. they went too close to make the dummy felt panic and tried to show them he was not kidding when he poked the eye
