Brasil, An attempted robbery of a pharmacy in Garanhuns in the Wasteland [Pernambuco], on the evening of last Monday (14) [March 2011], ended with the death of one of the assailants.
According to police, two robbers entered the store, located a few meters from the city forum. One of them escaped.
The other, identified as Leonardo Bezerra da Silva, 20, made hostage to the pharmacy clerk, Edvania Galdino da Silva, 37, and threatened with a knife, for two hours.
Police tried to negotiate but Leonardo did not yield.
The prosecutor Alexandre Bezerra bandit car and offered the money to escape.
The robber demanded the empty avenue.
The dramatic scenes were accompanied by hundreds of residents.
The bandit threatened to stick the knife in the neck, chest and even the victim's mouth.
Among the concerns of the Military Police Command Garanhuns was not having a sniper in the region to support the operation.
More than 20 police, civilians, soldiers and firemen, and three delegates were attentive to any drive.
After two hours of torture, the outcome: the police seized the moment in which the robber made the victim kneel and shot him in the head.
The crowd, which tried to control the whole time not to disrupt the talks, welcomed the police action.
The body of the offender was sent to the Forensic Institute in Caruaru, to test whether or not he acted under the influence of drugs.
Edvania Galdino da Silva was taken to Regional Hospital Don Moura in shock.
She went through an evaluation, she was treated and is now home. According to police, the assailant dead had been arrested in 2009 for illegal possession of firearms and the crime was responding in freedom.
The other robber, who fled before the police arrived, has not yet been identified.
