A young mototaxi driver, José M.J.V., was inside his mototaxi when he was intercepted by hitmen who went directly to attack him.

Images of the crime, which circulated on social media hours later, show how the criminals approached the vehicle, opened the door, and fired at point-blank range. Despite being wounded, José managed to get out of the vehicle and run a few metres, but he was caught by one of the attackers, who ended up shooting him in the head.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive for the murder is linked to territorial disputes over drug trafficking. Police have not ruled out that it was a clash between criminal gangs seeking to impose control.

According to information gathered by investigators, the victim had previously received a message warning him that he should only sell narcotics to “Los Choneros,” a criminal organisation operating in the area.
