Re: The One That Survived, Wore a Helmet Aftermath

At first I thought the guy with the helmet was saying “nothing wrong with me, look, I’m doing push-ups”.

Because "filming" is forever. Also there's no help to be given. The one guy's brain was obviously scrambled, and the dude with the helmet didn't need any help.

What, did you want the camera man to give them some milk and cookies and a binkie or something?
I’m not just talking about this video and there’s no need to be such a twat about it.

It’s the whole mentality of just standing there filming these sorts of things.

Re: The One That Survived, Wore a Helmet Aftermath

Twitchy guy is having decerebrate posturing, I think. Brain stem damage.
It's certainly a good guess, but his presentation doesn't align with decerebrate posturing in some ways. The adduction of the right arm, and the positioning of the legs is atypical of decerbrate and decorticate posturing.

It's almost like his arms are halfway between the two, but in this case, the damage is almost certainly involving the red nucleus, so he's not having a good day.

For the legs, I really expect to see both the legs locked and extended out...and could the camera guy at least get a shot of his feet!

How are we going to be able to assess the degree of plantar flexion?

Regardless, he be fuuuked. Definitely traumatic brain injury, and he's way beyond the skills of any first responder to have a real chance.

I’m sure I would like some one too talk me into staying calm and reassuring me help is on the way until the trained medics arrive.
Just calmly talking to an injured person would be a lot more helpful than recording their demise

Yeah, I wasn't 100% happy with the diagnosis, but tit was he arms that made me go with decerebrate. Extended not flexed.

Even if they're not spilling out his ears, I'm sure his gray matter is well scrambled!

Ikr? Silly flippity-floppity & their sub-par cinema skill.

He took a hurting for certain. Thanks for taking time to talk shop!

His legs never move. I think his back is broken. Through the seizure and the posturing his legs didn’t change.

That is very sad to see. I understand you should never move a crash victim
But I couldn’t just stand there and film the poor guy dying. Give him
Some dignity. Imagine dying at the road side, in pain, and the last thing you see is someone pointing a mobile phone at you

A perfect example of why a helmet should be a must!

Re: The One That Survived, Wore a Helmet Aftermath

Why do people always insist on filming people instead of trying to help them? I’ll never understand that...

I couldn’t stand by while someone was dying, I’d have to help in any way I could.
The law may vary in different countries, in some Latin American countries if you move an accident victim you could be held responsible for his/her death if you move them or try to help them and they die from their injuries, so:

I'm John Quiñones: What would you do?

If it makes you feel any better, the seizing guy was unconscious, probably never experienced a thing after the initial impact.
