In theory, if a well made gallows platform with a trap door for the condemned is made, these assets can be utilized repeatedly. Just the housing cost of one inmate @ $90K in California can cover the cost of the construction of the gallows and the ropes. It pays for itself by the execution of one inmate.

After all the legal costs associated with a capitol case, it actually costs more to execute a person than to put them in prison for life.
