Maybe ‘cause it’s comparatively rare? Or ‘cause he’s from here he’s already our problem? There’s a baseline level of criminality cross the spectrum. If there weren’t racial, ethnic, and other disparities in violent criminality there’d be no reason for animosity, but alas wishing for equality doesn’t make it so.

If a car is a deadly weapon (legally it is) then the car thief was in truth ‘reaching for a weapon’ then wasn’t he? Sounds like a good shoot to me (then again I’m not a criminal-coddling bleeding-heart like some others on here.)

In any case a carjacking is a forcibly felony, and in many places force, up to lethal forced, may be use to effectuate a citizens arrest of someone who has committed a forcible felony in one’s own presence.

Where does everyone think the police originally got their arrest powers from anyway? They were delegated to them, by the people, by US, before we got all packed together like sardines and contracted out wearing the big boy pants. Back then upholding the law was the responsibility of every able bodied citizen (as it should remain to this day.)
