Re: NEW YORK | Sleeping Woman Set on Fire in Subway Car
I don't know WHY no one did anything but watch her burn. No sense of compassion. And the guy taking a towel or t-shirt and fanning the flames. What did he think that would accomplish. No one helped the poor woman. Encouraged her to exit the train and then try and smother the flames. NO ONE. As for the perp, he is obviously suffering from schizophrenia. He was waving at someone only he could see and then made little sense talking to the camera. I see these type of dissociative states from reality all the time as a counselor. The entire situation was horrible. |

Re: NEW YORK | Sleeping Woman Set on Fire in Subway Car
FWIW: There's a social psychology phenomenon called the "Bystander Effect" and it's prevalent in NY and high density populations, as well as certain cultures. Research stems from the witnessed rape and murder of Kitty Genovese in Queens, NY in 1964. I have no explanation why the cops just strolled by apparently unfazed, other than they just didn't give a shit... Victim photos...
