A massive mudslide occured in Nepal, hurling towards China's boarder, wiping out the entire boarder town (one of the main boarder checks between Nepal and China). Casualties are estimated in the hundreds on the Chinese side, potentially more on the Nepal side. A large Chinese rescue response has been initiated, though it is hard to imagine anyone in the video survived this (the large administrative building is gone).

According to a Bloomberg report, Binod Chaudhary—Nepal's only billionaire and Chairman of the Chaudhary Group (CG)—stated that the recovery and reconstruction of infrastructure after this week's devastating flash floods could cost at least ($5 billion) (MYR 23 billion). He said this in an interview on Bloomberg TV with Haslinda Amin. In addition, Chaudhary stressed that this issue is not just a matter of funds, but also the time required and the challenging geography.

Flash floods on August 26 hit mountainous areas on Nepal's border with China, submerging villages and washing away roads and bridges. So far, at least 469 people have been confirmed dead, while about 1,200 others have been reported missing, including hundreds of foreign tourists. Preliminary investigations suggest glacier melting may have triggered the disaster.

Chaudhary said the disruption was comprehensive, including damage to power stations. As such, CG is working with the government, local partners and the military, while mobilizing its staff to set up rehabilitation centres for survivors within the next two days. After that, CG will start the construction of houses as well as support the affected businesses and schools.

The Chaudhary Group covers 12 business segments, from food and telecommunications to infrastructure and banking. Chaudhary also said his group's total expenditure on this effort is expected to exceed what was spent in 2015 when post-earthquake reconstruction projects across the country were underway.

I can’t even begin to wrap my head around the magnitude of this. I’d love to see a wide shot or satellite photo of the before and after of both camera angles. Like is there even a valley left or is it just completely flat filled in by hundreds of feet of mud.
