Carlos Alberto Pardo Estevez (September 16, 1975 – June 14, 2009) was a NASCAR Mexico Series champion race car driver from Mexico City.

He won 10 of his 74 NASCAR Mexico Series starts and had 8 poles. He won the series championship in 2004.
He was third in standings in 2005 and 2006.

Pardo competed also in six races in the NASCAR Camping World East Series in 2004 and 2005 and raced in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez in 2006.


During the 97th lap of a 100-lap NASCAR Mexico Series race at Autódromo Miguel E. Abed in Amozoc, Puebla, on June 14, 2009 Pardo was hit by Jorge Goeters,which caused him to lose control of his car and impacted against a barrier sideways at over 200 km/h causing the disintegration of the car.

He was transported to a local hospital by helicopter, where he was pronounced dead.

He was declared the winner of the race since he was leading the race at the last completed lap before the accident occurred, beating Goeters by 0.044 seconds.

Pardo, driving for Motorcraft team, had started the race from the last row.
He was 33 years old when he died.
He is survived by wife Ana, and an infant child.


His brother Ruben also competes in the NASCAR Mexico Series, and finished sixth in the race that his brother won posthumously.

That cannot be called NASCAR the frame has split welds you can see it in the shots of the car after the accident. In US NASCAR there would have been an energy absorbing barrier and there is no possibillity the car would have been built by an amature welder. I do not know how these people get away with saying this is NASCAR.

Umm.. NASCAR is "National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing". The US just has more restrictions for driver safety.

the driver behind him purposely spun him out, watch closely and you can see the classic move when he turns right into his rear. wonder how that guy feels and if anyone even realizes.
