Naked Man Shot and Killed by Police (Berlin)
The stranger had earlier threatened an officer in the Fountain of Neptune with a 20 centimeter long serrated knife and also injured himself, a police spokesman said. The 31-year-old man died from a gun shot from the police said Martin Steltner, spokesman for the prosecutor. A passerby had noticed the naked man with a knife in the well, and had approached the security guards in front of the nearby official residence of the mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit (SPD). The security guards called the police. A police car with two officers went to the fountain. One of the policemen had gone to the bleeding and flailing man in the well, the other was stopped before it, as a police spokesman reported. When asked to put away the knife, the attacker did not respond. He had placed the tool at the neck and already had a stomach injury. When asked if the man had made a deranged impression it was only said: "It was not normal behavior." The man did not let the police settle down. Quite the contrary: he approached the official in the well who could not draw back. "In this dangerous situation he drew his weapon and fired a shot," said the spokesman.  ·  · |

How can they claim that the man "was behaving strangely"? It was just a naked man into a fountain in the town center near the city hall with a 20 cm. knife screaming „Ich bin der Messias!“, advancing on a police officer and obviously threatening him to death... there's nothing wrong with it, mmmkay?  The cop not only acted appropriately, but he had no options left, three patrols tried to stop him in some dozens of different ways with no luck, what was he supposed to do, to wait to get stabbed before reacting? |
