Blood splashes on the bridge above and next to him. Looks like passing vehicles blasted him for fun like the holed metal signs you see on rural roads. That or they swung him so he was banging into the bridge leaving gore splotches...

well it was probably done during the night time and the usual suspects on the roads are truckers, pretty impossible to see that on an unlit road at night until you're way past swerving distance in a truck.
