On 25th September 2020 in Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), 26 year old R.E.D.F. was murdered. 'R' was inside a pharmacy when 2 men walked in + announced they were robbing the place. The robbers stole mobile phones from customers + cash from the till. They also stole the keys to a vehicle but when they tried to get away, the car wouldn't start. One of the robbers went back inside the pharmacy + that's when 'R' tackled him. The robber took out his gun + shot 'R' 2 times in his head. The robbers fled in another car. 'R' was taken to the hospital but shortly died from his injuries.

Just want to point out that the cashier was the most perfectly behaved during the robbery, following instructions, keeping calm, and with her hands flat-palmed on the counter. She did not want to increase her chances of getting shot.

People should know by now that in Brazil, you do not fight back against an armed criminal unless you possess a firearm yourself. As posted above, trying that hero nonsense will get you senselessly killed, when doing nothing and complying would keep you alive as well as others around you. Now if this was a situation where a criminal was about to shoot you in cold blood yes then you do what you have to do to try and stop it. |

I don't know if the robber announced he had a gun, but it was pretty obvious to me he was packing regardless, especially when he comes back into the store. Risking your life like that was impulsive and stupid with the potential reward being some petty cash, your phone, and a car (that apparently couldn't even start). |

1st shot to the head paralyzed him waist down. Anyone know what part of the head/brain that was hit to cause that? He went down and then was able to attempt to grab the gun/hand with one of his, so he was still conscious and knowing, to be able to attempt to act. Could that first shot have been survivable? |

Cerebellum (very bottom/back of your brain, near your neck) or frontal lobe (front/forehead area) can both cause paralysis. But with guns, other than blood loss, the thing that causes the most damage is the cavity that it creates as it enters soft tissue (this causes massive internal bleeding as it rearranges your insides for a moment). A small object at high velocities will cause everything around it within a closed space to rapidly expand, and then rapidly close, like a ripple effect. The reason why so many people get paralyzed from gunfire despite the spine and neck being such a small portion of your body is because of this expanding ripple effect; a bullet just needs to hit a few inches near your spine, and the violent expansion within your body will be big enough to damage your spine. I’m not good at explaining shit, but imagine you baked a cake and it had a balloon inside of it. Imagine what would happen to the cake if you filled the balloon with air. It would break the cake apart, and push everything around, even though the balloon itself was small to begin with. That’s how tiny bullets absolutely destroy a person’s body. There’s a lot of things that need to go right (after things go wrong) in order to survive a headshot. If you’re curious about some of the factors of surviving a headshot, I just found this: https://m.ranker.com/list/surviving-.../travis-morgan |
