Re: Mother and 8 Year Old Boy on Crosswalk Dragged by Dump Truck
What the hell?! Stupid lady. Wasn't looking where she was walking, I had to watch this like 10 times to realize that she completely failed to look left and just decided to cross the street. What I don't understand is how she didn't hear the damn truck, the engine on that thing accelerating from the intersection would be enough to make any one with common sense stop and look, so sad she died over something that was so avoidable. There was no way the driver could have seen them and its our job to make sure the roads are clear to cross first and be extra vigilant with a young one. Poor boy, I hope he pulls through and has other family to support him. |

Re: Mother and 8 Year Old Boy on Crosswalk Dragged by Dump Truck
Anyone crossing a street should be watching all traffic. They didn't even notice the giant truck moving until it hit them. I don't blame either side more than the other, they are both to blame. When I cross a road, I make sure to have eye contact with anyone stopped, or I don't step off the curb.

Re: Mother and 8 Year Old Boy on Crosswalk Dragged by Dump Truck
Yeah, same. I'm so paranoid when crossing the road that I stop and look, hesitate and look again and usually run across the cross walk even if the roads clear. I was hit by some idiot in a van when I was 6 and had to have surgery on my left arm because my elbow was crushed under the tyre and had to be replaced with a prosthetic. I also was hit smack in the face by the side of the front bumper and was swollen and bruised for weeks. This happened not even 10 feet away from a speed bump too. So now I'm super paranoid and am the one annoying person who sits and waits for 15 minutes before the little crosswalk sign shines and beeps, even if its clear to cross I won't risk it! With zebra crossing I just run across or won't cross at all unless all cars are stopped.
