A man was struck and killed by a train in downtown Minneapolis when he fell onto a light rail track during a fight.

41-year-old R.E.S. died from "multiple blunt force injuries and traumatic asphyxia due to collision with and compression by light rail train following physical altercation."

S. had reportedly been involved in a fight on the station platform that led to him falling onto the tracks as a train approached. The medical examiner listed his manner of death as "homicide."

A 29-year-old man, D.S.R., was apprehended by police on probable murder, but was released. 27-year-old T.B-R. was arrested for aiding an offender, but was also released. Charges in the case are being deferred pending toxicology reports, a final autopsy report, and additional investigations from law enforcement.
